Hit the road?

David Alan Harvey posted on Burn Magazine today that he is taking a camper/van and heading west... a 4-6 week free-form trip. I would love to do that! How can I make it happen? What would I do with the cats... they would be miserable on the road. I hate camping so I might have to do it in a car. Something to think about...

I've done a few road trips. The most memorable one was a three week motorcycle trip I made in 2004. I rode from Colorado to the west coast and back, exploring four National Parks. I covered 4,200 miles and camped wherever I could. Awesome, is the only word that comes to mind. I am wanting to do some traveling not that I have the semi-retirment stuff going on. Taking two weeks off and heading in some direction is always going to be an adventure. If you've not heard of them before there is a car top tent called autohome that could fit your needs. Not sure the cats would enjoy it and may make it rather difficult on you. You've done the Africa stuff, I say go for it.

So, where would you go? You say you're thinking about it. Think of all the pbase photographers you could hook up with. I've done some of that also.

I'm thinking of heading west and visiting some national parks along the way. Time of year - probably Autumn. It's exciting to think about!

It might be just the thing to get out of the photography slump.
