 The morning sun.

Today's packing goal: shoes, purses, paints

Tuesday, August 16, 2022

It's a dreary,  coolish morning with no 90s in the 10 day forecast. (Hooray!)

I realized yesterday that when I move to my new apartment I won't have a window over my kitchen sink; for the first time in 40+ years. It's not a big deal. It doesn't cause any particular melancholy, it's just a fact. My new sink will be located in (on?) an island and my view will be into the living room and the window at the other end of the room.

The kitchen window in my Georgia house.

It's a beautifully cool morning, so I am enjoying being on the balcony once again. The hummingbirds are not happy with my presence at all but they can just get over it.

At the hair salon this morning

Thursday, August 04, 2022

While emptying a cabinet, I came across this coffee mug. Many, many years ago I ran an online photo contest, Membership was free but donations were welcomed. There was a Photo-of-the-Month with a prize of a $50 Amazon gift card. I did it for several years until I ran out of gas. I sold the site to a couple of photographers in Australia. They ran it for a while but eventually shut it down. I did it for the love of photography, certainly not for the money as there wasn't much to be had.

New pizza

New for me at least. Mozzarella,  fresh cherries,  feta. Delicious!

And I've cleared out one upper cabinet. I've packed a lot but now I'm going to do the hard work (ladder required). Four more to go.

The sun was shining this morning, allowing me to get some shots of the hummingbirds as they came to take a drink.

New Month

August 1. July was wacky right to the end. I really need August to not be wacky.

Happy Birthday to Me

It's that time of year; another tick on the clock.

First, let me say that I love every sloppy thing about this photo. I can see it hanging in a diner. It's real. It's not a glitzy food photo. I wouldn't change a noodle or drip of sauce. :)

And now, the boxes await to be filled. Sigh. One at a time.

July, not getting better

Catching up

Not much happening; may have found my next apartment. Not looking forward to packing. Anyway, a few recent pics:

A very nice wine from Spain.

Note: There was no fire, just several alarms - for no reason.

Get back up and bloom!

This hibiscus plant was blown over during a storm yesterday. Today, it has blossoms galore! There's a lesson here.

July continues

2am Wednesday,  a fire drill. Or maybe someone maliciously pulled an alarm. When we finally got back inside Beau was having nothing to do with sleep. I'm too old to be up all night.

And the blooms keep coming, thankfully.

Finally, a vivid sunrise. Most days, the low clouds have obscured the rising sun.

Yesterday morning, the sun lost the battle with the clouds.

Then there was key lime pie.

And hibiscus.

Crazy July

July so far has been weird, crazy, a little shocking. Are the planets misaligned? I hope things settle down soon.

Lazy, Hot Sunday

Beau, apr├ęs nail clipping and fur brushing.  He still refuses to look at me.

And one more from yesterday. I'm losing track of what I've posted and where.

And my final attempt at a watercolor sunflower; moving on to other subject matter.

Saturday, July 02, 2022

First, the sunrise, a little orangey today. Then I had to pick up a package so I snapped photos of my balcony from the ground (it's the top one). Then, I noticed a hibiscus bloom! Lastly,  a couple of pics from yesterday.

July 1. In years past, I would have red-white-blue everywhere in my home, inside and out. I'm not celebrating America this year. This country has fallen so far, I don't know if we'll make it back in my lifetime.  Back to a country to be proud of. A country whose citizens believe in freedom and equality for everyone.  I know, I know, America has always had those who think only white is right. But today, that cancer is everywhere,  all the way to the Supreme Court.  Major chemotherapy is needed. It will be painful.

Snaps for Thursday

 Various snapshots from today

Three years ago today,  I left my home in Georgia for the last time. I was so exhausted after packing up a four bedroom house in less than a month, I didn't have the time or strength to consider what a momentous occasion it was. I miss many things about my house, mostly the space - inside and out but there are many more things I do not miss; the maintenance of a forty-plus year old house. Anyway, it feels as though I've been gone longer than three years.

A little rose

And a note re: equipment. I am very satisfied with the results from the Zeiss 2.8/50mm.

Roses are

Roses are delightful. They make a dull space more beautiful.

And some paint palettes

Rose Red

Not sure this is the color I wanted, but it's the color I had.
