Act Two

Hurry! My future,
I am anxious to know you.
Who will drift into my life,
and who will leave?
Will there be joy?
I hope there is joy.
I know there will be sadness,
but please, not more than I can bear.

No! Don't hurry.
Come slowly,
each chapter unfolding,
and the next.
and the next.
Until, all the characters have played their parts.
Each having touched my life,
and I, theirs.

Dang, another well written poem. We all find ourselves desiring to live in another time, past or future, as it's difficult to be present to the moment. I'm in that place myself, so wishing I could be in the future, if only for a short time.

I read earlier today about character development in writing and then you touch on it in this poem. It's vital to meet all these characters in our life. But, dang, we have to wait for them to appear.

A lovely poem, Faye. I never think about the good things that might happen in the future. I always assume that things are now as they will always be.
