We visited Paris in 2001. It was a fast paced trip and we were only in Paris for two days. Two days to see Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and Versailles. Phew! Anyway, I spent quite a bit of time this morning looking for my photos from that trip. In the intervening years, I lost the external drive with all of my original files, so all I have are the few that I edited and saved to a CD. My camera at the time was a Sony-F505. A good one for that time but it and my expertise didn't do service to the sights that I saw. I seem to remember the interior of the cathedral was very low-light and no flash allowed (thank goodness - the result of flash would have been awful). I bought a lot of postcards to remember the details, taken by photographers much better than me.
Anyway, yesterday was a stark reminder that the worst of your fears can happen in an instant.
