Windblown

When I checked the porch this morning after last nights storm, I found this tiny leaf had been blown in from somewhere.

Last Friday in June

We're rapidly sliding into July. Where did June go?

Sink Shots

This is my latest watercolor test paper. I use them to see what the color actually looks like on watercolor paper, before putting it on the actual work-in-progress. When I looked at it, I saw a bird. I added the eye.

Unencumbered

"Not having any burden or impediment"

I am trying to paint in a more loose style, instead of trying to get a photographic representation. It isn't as simple as it sounds but I'm enjoying the effort. My early paintings were filled with detail. Now, I'm attempting to 'suggest' color, shapes, the thing. Whatever it is.

Limoni

Since I hadn't painted in months, I moved my art table to another place in my apartment. That lasted a couple of weeks. I've moved it all back this morning. I'm feeling a little painterly.

These lemons were painted last year. I'm hoping the small sketchbook will be less intimidating. Fingers crossed.

Positivity

Every morning I watch the sunrise via several webcams/YouTube at the Outer Banks, Myrtle Beach, and South Ponte Vedra beach. This morning, I saw tracks at South Ponte Vedra. At first I thought they were atv tracks. But they are turtle tracks!

Monday Blues

When you're retired, Monday is just another day. It does, however, mean that the neighborhood is quieter.

June 3

Masks are back; at least for me. Especially since I had the flu a few weeks ago.

Pbase is, unfortunately, out. I'm not going to renew my membership. I joined in 2001, but I seldom post anything there and there isn't much activity. I have all of my galleries backed up. C'est la vie.

Tales from my Porch

It seems I'm managing one post per month here. What would a photo of a shithole country look like? Because that's where I live now.

Instead, here's a floral.

Look down

Not sure why trees might be dropping leaves in the Spring, but this large one caught my eye.

True

This compass belonged to my FIL. It's one of the items recently unpacked from moving boxes. It was either from an airplane or a boat. Leo worked for Grumman Aircraft and he also had built his own boat, so... I'm sure my husband knew of its origins and he probably told me at one time. But, today, the story is lost on me.

It is stored in a very nice wooden box.

Update: My son says it's a nautical compass, so it must have been in Leo's boat.
