a little more gps please

While pondering the whole gps/geotag thing, this photo came to mind. It was taken in 2001, in Paris; but where in Paris - I have no idea. It would be fun and memory-provoking if this image file contained the location data...

I now have a gps unit that records location data to my image files, via a connection to my camera.

It works very well, as long as the connector stays in place....

However, displaying the mapping data on three of the major photo-sharing sites... not always so simple.

Pbase - works great!

Flickr - works, once you have uncovered the not-so-obvious uploader setting.

SmugMug - hmmmmmm..... the gps data is being recognized, because I can see it on my 'overall' map. However, if you click on the map marker, the photo is not displayed and if you are viewing the individual photo and click the 'map this' button.... you will see a California map. Not even close!!

The location of this barn is not significant; this was more an exercise in technology and the flow of and eventual display of the gps information. Otherwise, why capture it?

finito!

My SoFoBoMo book... "What Remains" is finished. I'm not excited about the Blurb watermark , but I've spent as much time on publishing as I'm willing to invest!
